Error and Greed
If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus
Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing.
He has an unhealthy interest in controveries and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife,
malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been
robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
But goliness with content is great gain.
The Apostles Paul told Timothy to stay away from those who just wanted to make money from
preaching, and from those who strayed from the sound teachings of the gospel into quarrels
that caused strife in the church.
A person's understanding of the finer points of theology should not become the basis for lording
it over others or for making money or spiritual ambitions. Stay away from people who just
want to argue.
